Biography

“I believe it is important to offer personal legal advice with an aim to build trust with my clients and solve conflicts in a timely and cost-effective manner”

Jean’s preferred areas of practice are personal injury, with a particular focus on ICBC and serious complex injuries, and family law issues. While she supports finding settlements for her clients through negotiation and mediation, she has appeared at various levels of court including the Court of Appeal.

Jean’s experience and medical background in nursing (surgery, medicine, emergency and psychiatry) enable her to deal with complex multiple injuries, requiring consultation with treating physicians, support therapists, accounting and actuarial experts on behalf of injured plaintiffs. Thorough evaluation and interpretation of technical medical documents enables her to provide excellent financial results for her injured clients.

In dealing with family law, separation agreements, divorce, support and custody matters, Jean’s strengths include an approach that is sensitive yet pragmatic in seeking resolution of family issues in the separation process. Her clients include men and women involved with difficult partners, dealing with serious financial disputes and complex emotional issues.

Jean holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) Degree and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of British Columbia. She joined Cohen Buchan Edwards in 2003 and has focused her practice in the areas of personal injury law, ICBC claims, family law and estate litigation.

Jean provides pro-bono legal services in family, personal injury and estate matters to CHIMO Crisis Center in Richmond. She is on the Executive Committee for Richmond Nite of Hope for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. She enjoys spending her leisure time skiing and golfing.
