Government Takes Your Assets

Societies and Corporations are required to file annual reports each year with the Government.  Failure to file will result in the Registrar of Companies dissolving the Society and the Corporation. The result of dissolution is that the Government owns the assets of the Society and the Corporation.  This is a legislated transfer of ownership. Imagine what the members or shareholders will say to the directors when word spreads that the year's fundraising monies that were in the bank account have been transferred to the Government.  Goodbye scholarship monies, charitable assistance, conferences and trips. 
 
Physical Abuse Trial

The Plaintiff was a woman who had been physically abused by her father.  Following a three week Trial in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, substantial damages were awarded the Plaintiff.

The Defendant's appeal was dismissed by the British Columbia Court of Appeal in August 2009.  As a result of a cross-appeal by the Plaintiff, damages were actually increased from the original damage award at trial.

 
Motor Vehicle Accident In Alberta

The client was a 41 year old, self-employed entrpreneur who was involved in a motor vehicle accident in July 2003, when his vehicle hit a cow on a highway near Calgary, Alberta.  Serious injuries resulted, including brachial plexus injury which rendered his left arm virtually immobile.

The client's financial situation deteriorated.  He became addicted to narcotic medication.  He died 2 1/2 years after the accident from an accidental overdose of various medications.

As a result of a judicial dispute resolution in Alberta, a substantial settlement was achieved for the client's wife and children.
